Antigua recommendations please
Looking at booking a week in Antigua in November. As we have a holiday to Florida booked for August so we are trying to keep the price down a bit. Looking at Jolly beach and Rex Halcyon cove as possibilities. I stayed in the Rex 16 years ago and was fine but latest trip adviser reports are mixed. Has anyone been to Antigua recently? If so, what hotels do you recommend? Thanks.

I always dream of staying at Nonsuch bay resort after I saw it on place in the sun once! Antigua looks beautiful...

We’ve stayed at St James’ club and the Verandah both were really nice.

Hi - another vote for St James Club - I stayed there last year and it was lovely!

Another vote for St James Club. It may be a bit more expensive than the 2 you mentioned though. Loads of people from work stay at Jolly Beach and they say it does what is says on the tin with no frills but a fantastic beach.
St James Club goes up a notch and even has a really cheerful guy driving up and down the beach serving all inclusive drinks from a golf cart towing a fridge. |

We went to Hawksbill. This was view from our beach front bungalow. Its very quiet and Colonial style resort. This the reason we picked it,not for everyone but if just want peace quiet and a beach to yourself 5 to choose from its for you. If looking for something abit more lively dont go. Ask away if you want anymore info. I did put a full review on trip advisor nearly same user name. Enjoy your holiday

We’ve stayed at Jolly Beach - beach and pool are great but we weren’t impressed with the restaurants and rooms (very basic).

Agree with Paula with this. Fantastic beach though.

I used up to 18 months ago to own a home I needed Antigua.
Jolly Beach and Halcyon Cove are both at the lower end of the Hotel scale. Both on beautiful beaches but not well recognised for their rooms or food. St James club I would say is a better standard hotel but not on such a great beach. It’s a big complex close to English Harbour for restaurants if you are not AI. The BA crew and Virgin crews lodge here. Hermitage is lovely and expensive! |
