Two Countries and Eleven States - Day 11 Back to USA, Ben & Jerrys and onto North Conway

So here we go time to leave Canada and head back to the US. It was still raining

After a breakfast which was ok but busy due to all the hockey team and the Halloween partying families from the night before. Despite it being self service the ladies clearing table strangely left a receipt for breakfast with a hint for a tip! We always tip for service but all they had done was show people to an empty table?
Anyway we piled back in our trust or should that be rusty Jeep and headed back over the International Bridge back into New York State

The rain was dreadful and everything was miserable but then I saw something I’d been hoping to see in Pennsylvania

We had seen a few Amish families in Niagara Falls (odd) but this was proper ‘Witness’ territory. It was Sunday today and we presumed they were going to church. We passed a lot of horse and traps along this stretch of road - Bombay according to iphone.
We soon headed into Vermont

Still raining but another good photo catch!
We stopped in St Albans at a garage for gas and coffee and as we hadn’t had a sub for a couple of days it was prop ably time

Clearly DH had a difficult decision to make.

Vermont was beautiful even in this weather

However we had a destination in mind

We had to didn’t we! It was all dressed up for Halloween 🎃

Oh man the smell inside!

We paid for a tour $8 for the 4 of us as the boys were free . It only took about 30 mins with a short film, tour of the factory and a good sized sample of ice cream at the end. Sadly it was cookies and milk which wasn’t a favourite of any of us particularly. For interest my fave is Red Velvet why oh why don’t we have it here?
No photos allowed on the tour sadly.
Then it was a quick visit to the ice cream graveyard which was amusing. Some of the flavours clearly should never have seen the light of Day.

But time was passing and we needed to be on our way.
We continued the beautiful countryside and into New Hampshire

Yes 3 for 3 today!

We headed through the Crawford Notch State Park
and popped out in the driving wind and rain for a photo opp

But it was stunning

We then headed to North Conway, checked into the Geeen Granite Inn our Home for the next 2 nights.
At the recommendation of the very lovely owner we headed to the Muddy Moose for dinner.

It wasn’t one for vegetarians

But the food was great and very reasonable.
Let hope the rain stops soon.

A lot of rain today, but the walk at the end looked good with more waterfalls. The scenery did look stunning even with the weather.

We hope to visit Ben and Jerry's as we are about 30 minutes from it in summer - glad to hear it was a success.

Ben & Jerrys is definitely worth a trip if you’re in the area. It was a great way to break up the drive for us.

We loved Vermont although we were further South and didn’t go to Ben and Jerry’s.

Its lovely reading your trip report, we are staying in North Conway for 3 nights in September and we cannot wait.
