Small warning / reminder / experience re Dining Plan

Hi all, just wanted to pop a small reminder / warning / let everyone know of my experience with the dining plan the week before last.

I booked two rooms at SSR on the Dining Plan for 6 nights - one of my DH and I and one for my parents. I booked all our TS ADR's before going and knew that we had the right amount of TS credits for where we ate, which included a signature meal at The Boathouse.

The Boathouse ADR was on our penultimate evening and were our last TS credits to be used. We got there only to find out that my parents plan had only 2 TS credits left, not the 4 we had and needed.

This left us in a bit of an awkward situation at the table with our server, who was really understanding and fantastic about it all and we ended up paying cash for the one missing meal (She made sure it was the cheaper of the two!)

Turns out, once we'd visited concierge and explained, that my parents account was over charged by two credits at Via Napoli, paying 4 not 2, which we'd ate at a few days previously and because I had booked all the dinners etc, they presumed they were being charged correctly.

So, moral of the story is, always check your receipt (which as members of the DIBB I am sure you always do!)

Oh and Disney obviously refunded us the meal back

This happened to us too. Luckily I realised half way through the holiday. We got it sorted easily. Also found out on the last morning that our previous night's dinner hadn't been charged at all but felt too dishonest to use up those credits twice!

This happened to us too, but reception did sort it out quickly.

We also left a cash tip and it got charged to our room as well, so we effectively paid twice.

In our last family trip in March 2015 when I went to check out and pay our bill the final morning I found that they'd already prepared the bill the previous night and already charged my CC. I made them refund it: a) because I'd charged things back to the room to be ultimately paid by our $50 gift card, and b) because for some reason they'd charged one of DD's meals back to the room even though we had several CS credits left over.

She wasn't happy about reversing the bill and had to call the manager, but I got it all sorted out. I just had to pay the $15-odd balance, which I did in cash.

But several times during our trip we had trouble scanning our bands to use CS and SC credits up. After all three of us tried and failed to get our bands' pins to work, the guy at the ice cream kiosk just let us take the goodies for free. After going back to the resort we had the pins reset and now we all have to us my pin number: I think having 3 different pin numbers 'upset' the computer system!

They always run the accounts overnight the night before departure to the credit card on file. If you want to use some other type of payment you need to do it before midnight the night before you leave.

Also be wary of getting it reversed as you can lose out on the exchange rates.

Yes - we lost £22 because of that. Lesson learned, always settle up the night before!

Yes - very important to check each of your receipts. We ordered 3 x breakfasts at the Artists Pallette in Saratoga Springs two weeks ago and when I checked the receipt we had been charged 3 x table service credits instead of quick service credits. I went straight back and spoke to a manager who apologised and immediately resolved the issue but had I not checked this until later in the holiday then we may have simply lost these table service credits!

Just don't do what I did and start querying the number of remaining credits remaining on your last night before realising that you have actually used them all!

We were at Coral Reef for our last meal and when the bill came I'd said we were in the DDP and wondered why we had no credits remaining. The server was great and went away with our room number before coming back, apologising and giving us an extra credit per person!

Worked out when I got back to the room that I'd been completely in the wrong and knew where I'd miscalculated so we ended up with an extra TS meal free of charge.
