New York attraction tickets
Hi all,
I’m travelling to New York for the first time in December for 7 days but I’m just wondering what are the best tickets to buy for the main attractions? I’ve read many reviews around the city pass but not sure if this is the best one? As December is a busy time to travel would you recommend us booking far in advance like any time soon or waiting? How would the tickets work do we have to queue up in the normal queue? Thank you!

I used the City Pass, I wrote down the attractions we wanted to definitely do and then wrote down all the passes with prices. The explorer pass you can pick from 3, 5 or 7 attractions.

I used the explorer pass as it worked best for us and covered covered the main attractions we wanted, we got this from Costco as they offered the 4 attraction passes we used them for
big bus tour top of the rock empire state building kids choice Madame Tussaurds ( we picked the big bus day ticket from here) did the downtown route and hopped off to do Staten Island ferry to see Statue of Liberty pictures We did spend ages looking at different passes and gave us flexibility and covered costs for the 4 main attractions it worked well for us

I would work out what you want to visit & see if the CityPass (or similar) works out best for you. We personally found that not all the attractions we wanted to visit were included & it worked out better for us to pay separately.
What are you wanting to see whilst you're there? Zoe x

We got city pass but one of main things we wanted to do was 9/11 museum, would highly recommend but take plenty tissues, anyway it wasn't included so just paid n got pass refunded on return home as wasn't anything else on it we wanted instead of museum and worked out cheaper just to pay for other attractions we planned

We did 9/11 museum with the City pass. Also did TOTR, Empire State, sunset cruise, museum of natural history and museum of Art. Paid for Sol separately as we wanted to do the pedestal.

Definitely, look at the explorer pass.you can choose 3,5 or 7 attractions.
One thing we really enjoyed doing, which is included in the pass & I have done it twice,is the ride.thoroughly enjoyed it,on both occasions & well worth doing, great fun! Tracy x

Thanks everyone for all there information it’s been very helpful!
Just a few more questions Do you get a ticket for every attraction is it just a pass? Do you need to exchange them for tickets at the attraction? Can you just turn up on the day with you tickets you don’t have to pre book anything and would you have to wait in the normal queue or is there a seperate line for city passes? Thank you

With the explorer pass, you get, like a little credit card type pass.
We got ours through ATD,great service. At most attractions, you can just turn up.we just turned up at ESB,9/11 memorial museum & the harbour lights cruise.we did have these planned into our itinerary,so knew when we were actually going. There was a separate line, for the explorer pass, much shorter, than the line, where people were buying tickets on the day. The ride,we had already booked on line & TOTR,we nipped in & booked the slot we wanted, when we were passing,on the previous day. Really easy to use. Tracy x
