Big dogs are always lovely unlike my little b#tch westie who just growled and went for another dog at the field!

Maybe if I win the Euros tomorrow and can ditch work...
Good grief! That's not a dog, it's a lion! Have you seen the size of the puppies? I'm glad I didn't have to knock out one of those!

The biggest dog I ever saw was (I think) an old English mastiff. He looked like a lion and made our lab look tiny. My then toddler son flung his arms round it's neck before I could stop him and it just stood there. (He looked over the gate of the cottage we were staying in before anyone thinks I let my children run free to pet random dogs.)

Don't you think generally bigger dogs are more gentle and laid back though?

I worked in kennels after leaving school and old English mastiffs are one of the dogs they bred. They were lovely placid dogs and great with kids but the slobber was horrendous!

Not strictly true, they were taken by GI's who were in Japan during WW2, they were breed to be bigger dogs, then down the line, the American Akita was too big to be called a Akita ( so the american kennel club ) decided on the American Akita and the Japanese Akita

Meet our leonberger Barney. 60 kilos, not as big as his Dad who was 80 kilos. Big enough for us, constant shedding means lots of hoovering
