Economy classic V's Economy Delight

We usually like to sit in the bubble as this helps our daughter as its quieter & we are one of the first off the plane into immigration.

However, this year we have booked with Charter Travel who unhelpfully don't give booking references out till 7 months before departure (although it was £2k cheaper than anywhere else so I can just about cope with it) so were not able to book our seats for another few weeks.

It looks like there are no seats left in the bubble for our outgoing journey so we were thinking of upgrading to economy delight, I know this won't be quieter but it might be more comfortable & there's no premium left to upgrade to.

Is the upgrade to Delight worth it? I know it depends on the price of the upgrade but, is the difference in the classic & delight worth paying extra for? How does it affect you getting off the plane? Would we be better getting a classic seat nearer the front or does it not make much difference?

Sorry for so many questions, I'm just trying to work out what to do

Economy Delight is simply economy seats near the front of the economy cabin with 34” legroom instead of the normal 31”. You also get use of premium checkin and priority boarding. To be clear here this isn’t a separate cabin, the seats are no bigger and no wider than economy, the food is no different, it’s just the extra legroom. It does make for a more comfortable 10 hour flight, though...

About 3" extra legroom, priority boarding, priority check in desks and additional flying club miles if you collect them. I would say the extra legroom is definitely noticable, especially for me at 6ft 2! However if you can get the exit row if you dont have children with you, I would rather go with that if it's cheaper as the other extras don't matter much to me.

At the end of the day where you sit doesnt really matter as at the end of the day you could end up behind a whole plane load of people who Arrived just before you!

You are half way back on the plane as the seats are over the wing, around row 40. So the first cabin of economy may be better if you want to get off the plane quicker.

If you contact Virgin (I do it by text) they may be able to give you your details to login and book seats. I've done this as was in a similar position

I booked with Charter last week for next May and got my Virgin reference immediately and booked my seats.

I’m also travelling delight. It does state that seat selection is available immediately so perhaps that’s why I was able to?

On my flight it’s not at the front. It’s row 39 - 41 (or maybe 42).

Also:
• extra legroom (34″ pitch) rather than 31” in classic
• free seat selection at any time
• priority check-in
• priority boarding
• 1.5 Flying Club miles per mile flown

Thanks for this, I’ve already been in touch with Virgin & they could tell me the flight times & ref number & they could book seats for me but said as our booking hadn’t bern ticketed yet the reference might change so I left it.

You can book seats 331 days out on classic & delight but only with a reference number. I’ve emailed Charter a few times & rang them, I’ve had no replies to emails & calls are not returned. The contract says flight ref isn’t given till 7 months before but I keep hearing of people who are getting them much sooner. I’m finding it quite frustrating. X

I bet you are.
I’ve emailed Leah who I’ve booked with a couple of times and she’s always responded almost immediately.

I do hope you get sorted x
