FairFX - Huge Problems While Abroad

We have always had great success with Fair FX and still have £1000 on a card since our trip in 2012. I dont have any concerns. Its a shame that you did have a problem, but problems can happen with any company at any time. Obviously it will then taint your view of that company.

OP sorry you went through this unnecessary hassle on your honeymoon.

I have used FairFX without any problems on both of my trips. Like other have said it's best to try and have a combination of funds in case something goes wrong. This could just as easily happen with a credit card - as I experienced on this year's trip. On my first full day of the holiday I received communications from my credit card company advising suspicious activity on my card - turned out some fraudsters had got hold of my details and were trying to buy up loads of flights to various places. They obviously had to cancel my card and re-issue a new one. Not much use to me as I was now stuck with a credit card that didn't work. Fortunately my credit card is taken purely for emergencies, and I was lucky not to need it. But had I been relying on it instead of cash/FairFX then I'd have been stuffed.
