Has anyone been able to change their 'use year'?
DH and I joined DVC whilst on our trip last week.
It seems our 'use year' month of August is no good to us and we didn't realise this whilst there. We are going to speak to our DVC sales agent tomorrow as she is out of the office until then but in the meantime I thought I would ask. many thanks, |

Why is it of no use? I don't think use year really matters unless you are likely to cancel a trip at the last minute.

If our use year is August and we have points from Aug 15 and we have to bank them by March 16.
Then we can not use them for our Aug 17 holiday with our Aug 16 points? I am understanding it correctly? lol We usually take our vacation the last two weeks of Aug but won't our points need using by the end of July? |

That's correct for the first year, but you could rent out your first years points.
Bank your Aug 16 points and use them + Aug 17 points and even Aug 18 points for your trip. |

I wouldn't want my Use Year in the month we travel, too risky in case of cancellation.

Agreed. We have a December use year, suits us fine albeit wouldn't suit those who do a Xmas visit every year.

Plus, the guide should have discussed suitable Use Year to Vicky's usual holiday times.

Actually, a Use Year that starts in the month of travel is probably best as in case of cancellation they have the next 11 months to re-schedule.
We have March which is was the least worse month for us. Due to my choose profession I won't ever be going in January and February is too cold for us with no other draw such as Xmas. At the moment, we travel July and December. Before DD started school it was April/May & September/October. |
