For August I budget 2500 for a fly drive, 2 adults and 3 kids, this is to Miami though from LHR.

I think your budget is possible, we’ve paid £3700 for 22nd July -21st August this year.
We absolutely wanted direct flights, we could have got the flights cheaper indirect.
28 days flydrive with Ford Escape
Direct return flights in economy with luggage LGW-TPA
2 adults, 2 children.
I’ve not seen our exact flights as cheap since we booked, however the week before they were the same price for premium economy, but we were hoping the economy flights would drop in price even further.

We only fly direct, but happy to fly into MCO, Tampa or Miami. For this year we managed to get LGW-MCO with SUV for 20 nights - 2A and 2C for £2700 - 6-26 August. When I booked prices were constantly changing. It’s the 1st time for a couple of years we’re flying into MCO - it’s usually out of our budget. We’ve always found the best prices in September - I know others find December better to book.

We have exactly same dates as you and family of 5, kids will be 18,15 & 10.
I am hoping to get BA flydrive for around £3500. We usually get it for around that so fingers x for both of us 😉

Another suggestion here for you flying in to Tampa instead of Orlando. Obviously will depend on where you are stopping but driving distance from MCO to our villa in four corners is 38 mins where as from Tampa to the villa it’s 110 mins... however saved £2500 on flights for 2 adults and 3 kids by doing this instead. It’s a BA fly drive deal!

Also look at flying into Fort Lauderdale.
We did this with Norwegian in 2018 and found it cut about an hour car journey time up to Orlando than flying into Miami (which we did in 2017).
We are currently looking for August this year as the kids aren’t back in school until 8th Sep.
Nothing from Manchester as yet - so probably doing Gatwick to Tampa.

BA & Norwegian no longer fly into FLL anymore unfortunately! Used to get some great deals into there.

Our flights for this August are with BA £2651 direct from Gatwick to MCO with car hire (2 adults, 2 children 11 and 9). We booked mid-September 2019 for the first two weeks in August 2020.

Wow! Would be happy if those sort of prices become available again this year!
