clearwater or anna maria island

planning a few days away from orlando fancied traveling down the east coast towards Ft Lauderdale / Miami then across to the everglades and back up the west coast fancied staying at either Anna Maria Island or Clearwater on way back up west coast anyone got any thoughts on places to head for stay over for at night looks like a round trip of 630 miles will do Busch Gardens on way back too

Can't compare Clearwater to anywhere else as we have only been to Clearwater but I love the place, the beach is lovely and clean and the sea is so warm, great selection of Hotels and restaurants but not overly busy. We stayed in the Hilton Hotel which has its own private section of beach and is really nice.

I love both places.
Clearwater for a bit more action or AMI for rest and relaxation.
