Bringing Food back from the States
Hey,
I'm a huge fan of American food. Im planning on paying to bring back an extra case of food. Too those who have done it before, what size case do you bring back? And which foods have you bought back with you with no problems? Do you declare the food? Thankyou!

Beef Jerky - and it's a banned item
According to the UK Border .pdf it's a banned item. You can only import meat products from the EU - everywhere else is banned Regards Gary

We bring back m&ms, york peppermint patties, other different sweets. Also large bags of the cheaper version of Fruit Loops, bottles of Franks Hot Sauce, Olive Garden salad dressing, blue Jello, can't think of anything else at the moment.

Customs say:
Foods you cannot bring into the UK include: • all meat and meat products • all milk and dairy products Import restrictions also apply to fish, fish products, egg, honey and some fruits, plants and vegetables. You must declare these products at the red channel or the red-point phone when you arrive in the UK. The UK Border Agency uses detection dogs and trained officers to detect banned or restricted items. All illegal products will be seized and may be destroyed. If you fail to declare items, you could face criminal prosecution, a fine or even imprisonment. You are responsible for the contents of your baggage, so be aware of what your baggage contains. Is it worth a fine or imprisonment for Beef Jerky when you can buy it in the shops here? |
