My Dad 71 getting on a bit now, can’t walk as far as he used to, retired fully last year on his 70th Birthday, lives alone but spends every other Sunday with us. Thankfully recovered from a heart attack 16 years ago and hasn’t smoked a cigarette since that day.

We have a caravan holiday every other year and take my dad with us. This has gone on since Tom was 2 and we used the Sun vouchers one year. Tom fell in love with Haven and all the character and has many stuffed toys. Rory, Bradley, Naughty Ned etc

We started with a basic 2 bed caravan on our first trip but progressed to 3 bedrooms so my dad gets his own room, and after spending a week in a friends parents caravan with an en suite master bedroom, we never book with Haven anymore, instead I look for private caravans that offer a bit more luxury at ½ the price Haven would charge. Plus you get to see what you are getting and where the caravan is just like doing DIY on a villa.

This years caravan does not have a full en suite but the extra loo is always handy. We also have a sea view.

This little beauty is costing us £675 for a week, (more than the villa we have booked next year! ) But a similar caravan with decking from haven would cost £1516 for the same week You do get the entertainment passes included with them but we are not so bothered about them these days.

We are staying on the Haven Seashore park in Great Yarmouth. When I checked their website for the price comparison above they are sold out for our week!

We will eat fish and chips, play 2p machines ,go to the beach (weather depending) sit on the pier, go to the fun fair, walk down the tat shop street and generally recharge our batteries.

We have previously been blessed with glorious weather on our caravan holidays and are hoping this will be the same.

I know this will be nowhere near as exciting as Florida but I enjoy looking back on my other TR so wanted to do this one too for memories. I hope it is not going to be too boring for anyone that decides to read it.
