New New York: A Helluva Town
So, this is my very first time- despite being a long time lurker and then finally signing up! So please be gentle with me
Introductions: Hubby and I aka Mr & Mrs Shrek- This trip came about because NYC is somewhere I have always wanted to visit. We are leaving our daughter at home (not alone) with her nannie and great nannie to look after her before they head off to Benidorm for their annual jolly. Plan: We are travelling from Heathrow on Friday 3rd March, as we have an earlyish flight (09.40am) we thought we would stay overnight before. We have always used the Park Inn at Heathrow and never had any issues- so staying there again We got a good deal through hotels.com and got cash back through Quidco. I got what I thought was a fairly good deal through one of BA's sales, we are staying at the Doubletree Metropolitan which looks like it will suit our needs and not far from all we want to see: Travel Day: Plan to head to giraffe for brekkie before boarding, this seems to be our go to choice when flying from Heathrow and again never had any issues. Flight takes off at 09.40am and we are due to land at around 12.45pm local time, we are planning on getting a cab into NYC to the hotel- We might still yet end up taking alternative means, however hubby is keen on getting a cab through. Assuming all goes to plan, getting through immigration, traffic through NYC (a friend who travels regularly for work tells me traffic is horrendous) we are hoping to be checked in etc by 4.30pm. Planning on having a little wander passing by Chrysler building, grand central and the New York Public Library and then back to hotel to change for dinner. We have dinner booked at the 21 Club at 8.30pm which I am looking forward to- we are booked in Upstairs at 21 where they have a 4 course menu. Hoping to pop into the Waldorf Astoria for a cocktail or 2 before we go out for dinner. Day 2: Have got TOTR booked for 09:00am- I happened to notice that MK is right outside the Rockefeller Centre- So I may just have to pop in and see what they have! Have a HOHO bus 48 hours pass- just mainly sightseeing for the rest of the day - got a good deal for all loops, plus night loop and cruise for 45 pounds each. We are hoping to catch a show but undecided yet as to whether we book before we go or wait to see what we can get at TKTS. Day 3: Natural History Museum, and Central Park as well as HOHO bus. Would like to go to the Brooklyn Tabernacle to watch a service as I love their choir- however hubby is not into that scene so I may need to come back again and go Day 4: SOL- Booked for crown at 10:00am, walk across Brooklyn Bridge- Possibly squeeze in a bit of shopping at some point. Then home |

Sounds good. We're going in April and haven't put our plans together yet although we know roughly what we want to do.
