I watched the first couple of episodes and struggled to get into it so gave up to be honest

Yes watched it all and enjoyed it. I like things that are a little different, it's not so 'polished' as some dramas you see but the acting was really good especially Nicole Kidman.

Apparently the first series of it was also worth a watch so I'm going to try and track that down now.

Give it a a go

I loved it, I didn't know there was another series though... what title did that have? China Girl was great.

Recall 1st series was just called Top of the Lake; centred around her returning to her childhood haunts & acquaintances in New Zealand.

I saw the first series, its on Netflix. It was strange, but worth sticking with. Forgot about the second series, so i ll have to watch it on catch up.

Top of the Lake was really quite good but China Girl is a pale shadow of the first series.

Good acting, minimal ( at best ) plot which is soooooh contrived.

I liked it, we tried to watch the first series but the sound was really muffled so we gave up, think it was on iplayer through sky catch up.
