Dover to New York cruise

Has anyone ever done the Dover to New York cruise, Im thinking about this for 2019, however I can only take holiday at certain times of year so wondering if this route is available all year round or just at certain times of year ?

I have not done it, but I have booked (and cancelled) two. Both were in September, which is normal because that's when they "reposition" the ship from summer in Europe back to the US / Caribbean / etc.

I think they don't always stop in NYC, it depends on the route / itinerary - think it varies.

Some Other cruise lines reposition a bit later than DCL, I think. If that fitted your dates better?

I think Cunard may sail Southampton to NYC (and back) year round. Not sure.

not sure if it's just DCL you're interested in, but a couple of years ago we sailed Southampton to New York on Royal Caribbean Independence of the Seas and it started something like Oct 27th. It was 8 nights and all at sea but excellent as they had a lot of things happening on that ship.

The only company with a regular all year crossing is Cunard otherwise all the transatlantic crossings are really repositioning cruises. We sailed on Celebrity Reflection from Rome to Miami a couple of year's ago and had a great time. We were on a cruise earlier this year which had just returned from the States for the European season and those on board were saying the weather took a turn from the worse soon after leaving the Bahamas whereas we were lucky with the weather all the way over.

DCL has not done Dover to NY before, it's a first itinerary for next year. Like others have said, it's a repositioning cruise for DCL so only offered twice a year and not necessarily with the same ports.
