Two out of Miami 5th day Sept 6th

Usual start to the day, Breakfast and watching Irma on the TV, The locals are starting to look a bit more concerned about the approaching Irma.
Today, we decided would be shopping day, getting gifts for home.
So off we set, walking down the boardwalk towards the main shopping centre at South Beach.

As we stroll down the boardwalk, we can hear workmen and hotel workers putting up shutters and boards, and generally preparing for Irma battering the hotels on the beach front.

We reach 17th Street, and head off into the shops, To Lesleys delight, we find Macys.

I make a feeble attempt to say I haven't got the credit cards, but to no avail, Lesley is not fooled and is off shopping with a huge smile on her face

We eventually get out of Macys

and after more shops, we decide to stop for something to eat, We stop at a Italian/ American diner on Collins Ave, where we spot more preperations going on for the approach of the Hurricane.

We see quite a few lorries loaded with boards going up and down the beach, unloading to hotels and business properties.
We arrive back at the hotel around 5pm, grab our beach gear, and head to sit on the beach for a couple of hours.

We are back at the hotel by 8pm, nip and get changed and back down for a bite to eat and a couple of drinks.
When we walk into the bar/restaurant area, it is so quiet, the young lady behind the bar is totally bored, she tells us that quite a few guests have checked out early to get away from the hurricane.

After another really hot day, we decide that it is time for some sleep and off we go, We have decided that tomorrow we will use the free buses to get to another part of the beach to have a nosey.
