We stayed in Hotel Carot in January, it is 1 minute from Termini Station, great location, spacious rooms and a fabulous breakfast, was 90 euros for 3 adults. The location was perfect as we walked down to the Spanish steps area and was great for the buses to/from the 2 airports. years ago we stayed in an area call "long bridge" but you had to use underground to get about which just added to the expense. There was a fabulous coffee shop right at the corner which didn't charge inflated prices for coffee/pastries etc.

We went to Rome for 4 nights in December. Had an amazing time.

Stumbled on this restaurant just off the Piazza Navona on our first night and had to go back again another.

Would go back if we went again.

Just back from Rome, we stayed at the Oxford hotel on via Veneto. It's about 15 mins walk to Spanish steps and most places are about 20mins at most, buses pass frequently. The room was quite large apparently for a room in Rome and was spotlessly clean. It felt very safe and was quiet at night. It is on the same street as the American Embassy and there are some lovely big hotels there too. As others have said Trastavere is a nice area we spent two days exploring that area and has lovely street and viewpoints all around. Rome is now our favourite city it was lovely.

We were in Rome during July and stayed at the Albergo Del Senato next to the Pantheon. Lovely hotel and a great location.

Can recommend Armonia All'Opera, B&B and the owner is lovely. He helped us buy tickets for the vatican on line, saved a very long queue!
