I have extensively researched scones! M&S cafe ones are by far the est from high street cafes/coffee shops, so I would assume M&S bakery ones would be the same standard.

Waitrose do a nice cherry and almond scone. Pack of 4 is £1.80 normally on the shelf with the crumpets and muffins!

I was going to say that. We have a family bakery nearby , the scones are the best Ive ever tasted, proper irregular shaped ones unlike the perfect mass produced supermarket ones.
We have wholemeal, cherry, fruit, date, apple and lots more. They sell for just 30p each too. Amazing.

I'm all for this too. I'm the only one in our family who eats scones so buying a pack is a waste. I occasionally buy just a single scone from my local bakery, they are delicious and so much better than packaged. I have had Costco ones at a friends and they are nice but too big for me. Of course homemade are always better but a bakery is usually next best thing.

I've never found a nice pre-packed scone. They all seem to leave a horrible after taste.
I always make my own (google Mary Berry's very best scone recipe) and they're amazing - especially when they're still warm from the oven. Even better with some clotted cream and jam
