Mobile DVC start date

We're in Florida now & are considering buying into DVC direct with Disney but have a couple of questions please.
If we confirm it next week & pay our deposit what will our start date be? Does it default to the 1st of the month? Also as it will be Sept before we get home & arrange the rest of finance will it be Aug when we placed deposit or Sept when we arrange financing and pay?

Nice news! Disney release the points allocation and your contract when they have the full monies due, not a deposit.
You will be allocated a Month that is at their discretion albeit you can negotiate on that. We have a December use year so when we bought in the September we had the previous years points in full but only paid a percentage of the annual dues being from the September to January when they all fall due for payment no matter what your month on the contract.
Is this what you mean?

Yes that's what I meant, thank you. Ah I didn't realise I could negotiate the date. Yes they mentioned we would get this years points. We're looking at buying into Copper Creek at Wilderness Lodge

Awesome. I adore WL. Great choice. We could have had that back in 2003 when we bought as there were a few points left. Hey ho water under the bridge now.
Try and screw them for some perks such as a gift card or developer points. Don't ask don't get.

We absolutely love WL too. Fort Wilderness is a close second for us. We got $100 gift card for doing the tour & 3 fast passes each but as we weren't doing Disney parks this visit they said if we went ahead they could add them so they could be used next time we visit.

I bought at Copper Creek in July and my use year is December. Therefore I got all of this years points added - so basically double!
My annual dues which I just paid today were only for 6 months this year as they only officially opened in July.

That's what we had. The points for the year we bought, then we also had the previous years developer points as a one off.
Then three months later we had the next lot.
So on an initial 300 point purchase we had 900 points within a three month period.

When we bought BLT when they first came on sale in 2008, developer points weren't available. Later they were offered as a buy in offer and we managed to get them as well.

They said we would get this years points but I wasn't sure how the use years worked. Did you choose December or did they allocate it?
