Local managers will have the ability to close or open as they individually see fit. Some of this might simply be different personalities and risk management approaches.

You could also be isolating a single issue. At the point the area becomes unsafe, an awful lot of work will need to be done. closing some areas prematurely will relieve pressure when the moment of mad closing arrives.

You couldn't have a "set of rules", in such dynamic circumstances it would need updating and distributing as things change, which would not be practical, especially when the very infrastructure you might use to communicate said messages could be hit. It's better to have managers that are empowered to look after guests however then need to.

It's easy to complain about rules when you're not privy to all information nor liable to the outcome of a situation.

It was light rain, we wanted to walk through an empty area, your assumptions are just that. We were there and felt Disney went way over the top too early. We weren't the only ones just trying to make the best of a ruined holiday that we spent a fortune on. Sorry some of you don't see it from our POV.

I get what you're saying but think about it this way - Disney maybe didn't want staff at DS, something happens to you while strolling through DS (maybe a wind gust or maybe unrelated), no one there to find you, Disney then feel responsible.

It may be a ruined holiday but you will have years of other holidays ahead of you. Some people have lost their homes and belongings forever. Time for a reality check.

I think it's not so much that people can't see it from your POV - it's more that they are asking you to see it from the POV of the bigger picture of Disney trying to make the best and safest decisions at a very difficult time given the strain on any rescue or even admin services. If anything terrible did happen it might help any rescue effort to concentrate on the hotels and know that the parks and Disney Springs were empty. It's possible that they are aware that some of the structures at Disney Springs are potentially dangerous in very high wind - there is a lot of glass in all those shop windows don't you think? - and that they are more confident about the hotel area. I really don't think that they are going out of their way to ruin your holiday any more than the people that are responding to your post are trying to get at you.

I hope that as things continue to return a bit to normal later on today you can carry on with your holiday so that the rest of it isn't too affected.

Reality check is we knew we had a 48 hour curfew coming and we were out walking in light rain, 16 hours before Irma was due, pools were open, and that's the reality, thank however for your kind thoughts, let's end this now before one of us gets banned.

They removed all the windows from Wolfgang Pucks earlier this week prior to demolition. That makes it a very unsafe structure as it's a wind tunnel now.

I will be interested to see what's happened to it later when they lift the curfew. Plus there is still loads of construction materials around the Edison building.
Makes for a perfect storm.
