Southern Dunes

Hi does anyone know how SD was affected by the storms?
We bought a villa there in August ... unlucky eh?
Waiting for detailed info from our management company but wondered if there were any dibbers out there who could give any info?

Here is an extract from an e-mail I received from the owner we are still hoping to rent from next week.

"There were large oak trees that were uprooted during the storm. Two houses on Southern Dunes were hit by these large, old trees squarely although not a property they manage. I can't image what they owners are going through right now. Hopefully no-one was hurt.

On the quick inspections they undertook they found screen damage on every house, and missing shingles routinely and lots of vegetative debris and a few properties with lanai damage.

I'm hoping for a specific report on our house by tomorrow morning but I'm feeling more relaxed now knowing any damage reported isn't going to be too bad and relatively easy to fix"

If you want to PM me and provide your e-mail address and property address, unless we have to change plans re where we are staying next week I will happily take some pictures of your property and send them to you to help set your mind at rest.

They received a notice from Duke Energy yesterday which indicated that it is very possible Southern Dunes will be without power for several more days Fingers crossed it isn’t that long.

We own just up,the road and DH is out just now he's checked our friends house she has one window screen out that's it our MC who's on Southern Dunes is completing his checks today we are still without power down our end though pm if you want to know when we go back on power etc

If you could update the thread when the power does go back on I would be very grateful as I suspect that that will be the only think keeping us from going next week

They were out today removing the trees from the golf course and the estate Ian is also going to check,the course as soon as it's open got to get priotities right he says well all our screens are back in today and he will be down to fix our friends window screen a good indication the power is on is if Walmart shows open on the web site Mannys etc is on as they are on the same circuit as the police station

I rented a villa in southern dunes and arrive on Friday. The villa owner contacted me to say their villa had no damage apart from pool screen which will get fixed today and the resort was fine

myvot like us all theybwill,be hoping the power is on I'll update as I know but as 15 mins ago it wasn't on

Can anyone offer an update as to whether Southern Dunes has power yet? Waiting to get into a villa there at the moment... thanks

Spoke to DH a couple of hours ago he's currently out helping our MC
With stuff and at that point the Dunes Villa Sorrento Calabay Parc and thevNew Balmoral still did not have power we are on Villa Sorrento
Duke Energy our only choice of provider are only committing to us being on by midnight on the 17 th
DH says they have ( power company slang here he's ex power company and 2 DS are linesman / line engineer ) wild cats and mustangs i.e. Guys from every power company working bothnour boys
Work,for an international company but there guys can't work on the lines Lin the us so they are all,going out to other places hit by Irma
ASAP as DH says thunderbirds are go there slang I'll post
