We walked onto Forbidden Journey just after park opening time at the end of June this year. We did the same for Gringotts and Flight of the Hippogriff. But, even later in the day queues were around 40 minutes max and often much less than 15 minutes.
We used the Universal park app to check queue times and headed for the rides when the queues were best. |

Bear in mind that if your son is 6 he might be too small to ride Forbidden Journey (48 inches) or Gringotts (42 inches)

Going in 2 weeks with family, we have early entry but no fast passes, will head for hp but dont want to risk the FJ ride and spoil the day with any of us feeling queezy, so how does it work if you just want to see the lead up to the ride and not go on it, is there a seperate queue/ line.

My experience in early August was quite good, but we did stay in a Universal hotel to get front of line passes.
What we did was to get into IoA early and go straight to the main Harry Potter ride. We then left that park via the Hogwarts Express to the US and did absolutely everything else there, EXCEPT for Harry Potter. Then, the next day we did the reverse - we went to US' Harry Potter section and rode Gringott's (fantastic ride!), caught the Hogwart's Express over to IoA, then did the rest of IoA. It's worth noting that the Hogwart's Express is a different experience in each direction, so its actually 2 "rides", as such! We got front of line passes, so we found both days quite easy (although Rip, Ride Rockit got shut down for Lightning when we got to the front of the queue... twice! We did get to ride it though, eventually!). However, it was in August so, with lower queue times now, you should hopefully manage just fine. Hope you have a great time... i want to go back! |
