Need to book tables August?

We did Disney dining plan for our first couple of trips to Orlando and booked everything prior to leaving. Did club level in Universal mostly.

This year (back end of August) we are in a Davenport Villa for the first week or so then staying at the Portofino for a week over at Universal. We are not doing the Disney Parks this time just Universal but will visit Disney Springs and some Disney resorts.

Question is how much pre-booking do we need to do? I suppose we are hoping that we don't need to micro plan this time around!

Thinking that we don't need to book lunch tables but what about dinner?

Places like:

Disney Springs:
Edison
Planet Hollywood
Boathouse
Paddlefish

Animal Kingdom Lodge - Boma Buffet

Boardwalk - Trattoria

Universal
Cowfish
Toothsome Chocolate Emporium
Mythos
Margaritaville

Would be interested in your views/experience.

You can’t book toothsome, not sure about the other universal ones.

As you are staying at Portofino you can get priority seating at city walk restaurants anyway. When you arrive at the restaurant just let them you are staying and they will seat you really quickly.

Boathouse and paddlefish should be fine for walk ups. My friend got a walk up at those two in May.
I would consider booking the Edison as it is so new and it seems to be quite hyped up

Thanks Lucy...didn’t know about the priority seating! Sounds good to me...

Wonder if priority will work for Mythos?

Probably do Edison for lunch anyway...from initial reviews I think starters and desserts are the way to go...

Don't think anyone is going to know in relation to The Edison, if it get's poor reviews then No but... Boathouse & Paddlefish are both Signatures but both have great locations so I'd expect them to be busy weekend nights. Planet is getting hammered online so I don't see it being in demand. I would definitely book Boma, it's in the top 2-3 for value & your stay is during Free Dining.
We never needed a booking at Cowfish & only used our Priority seating at Tchoup tchoup.

Thanks Shooby...I think we’ll wing it a bit...maybe book boma as you say. Really like Planet Hollywood ourselves just for the spectacle...enjoyed the burgers too! Going to try to branch out a bit this time... maybe even some off property restaurants! 😱

OP. I know nothing about Universal sorry.

I agree you should book Boma as it's such a busy time of year. We see the walk up lines for that place and they can be very long.

Boathouse I would as well as staying at SSR we nip over to Disney Springs and again the walk up line can be quite big.
Paddlefish is getting poor reviews so we wont go there. However that's just us so I would recommend you do some research on here and trip advisor.

Why wouldn't you book tables? Its free and you can cancel or reschedule later if you change your mind; so long as you do it more than 24 hours in advance.

If you do cancel you can still try and get another booking or walk up. You loose nothing.

I just book tables I want right now and if I change my mind I'll alter it later.
