I hate the taste of butter - hate margarine even more.
So...why do people butter only one side of the inside of a sandwich. Is it a cost saving exercise save the pennies by using half the butter but still have the taste. Has the other inside side got pickles/ salad cream/mayonnaise? Is it a time saving exercise? Or is it that both insides buttered gives itbyoo strong a butter flavour? Or isn’t it about losing calories! Edited at 10:22 AM. |

I only butter one slice though everyone always thinks that's odd I just figure its one of my quirks like only toasting one side of my bread for toast and not drinking tea/coffee
The rest of the family butter both and slather it on though youngest ds will only have butter if its butter only if he has any filling then won't eat it if it has butter in it not that's odd |

I don’t either.
However, if making a sandwich for someone who has butter/marg. I’d do both slices. When my friend has jam on toast, they butter the toast first and then put jam on top. It just looks like a soggy greasy mess.

Butter both and also put butter on toast and then jam on top. It doesn't taste like a soggy greasy mess

I've honestly never heard of this before (and I work for a massive bakery company!). I may have to start surveying my colleagues.

Lurpark spreadable for me. The lightly salted, lower fat version. On both sides.
Toast and jam has Lurpark first. Find it too dry with jam only. Bacon butty I don't bother with butter as I squirt on so much ketchup that I can't tast the butter. I lightly spread butter. If DH makes a sandwich or toast he puts so much butter or marg on that I always do a double take thinking it's a slice of cheese because he puts so much on 🙄 he's learnt to thinly spread butter for me as he was getting offended with me scraping most of it off 😂 Speaking of sandwiches, how do you all layer them up. I would put the protein on first followed by lettuce, cucumber and tomato. In that order. DH makes sandwiches upside down. 🤣 I can handle that as I can flick it over but oh my word he does the same with a cob/roll/bun/any other name... And I have to take everything out and re-make it. I know I know. I could just make my own😂 |
