BA flydrive Avis car upgrade

Booked a fly drive with BA, Int SUV with Avis.
Possible that my son and girlfriend may join us, if so would need 6 seats.
Anyone upgraded with Avis before going? Will they let me as it’s a fly drive? Thanks

Call BA and they will give you the upgrade cost, may be cheaper that trying to upgrade there.

Happy New Year.

Cheers, thought I’d need to call Avis.

I upgraded my BA flydrive vehicle twice on my last trip. There is an admin fee on top of the upgrade price but if you get lucky with who you speak with they sometimes waive it.

Can you remember what the admin charge was?
Might try Avis first, need to call them to link my booking to my preferred account. Cheers

I’ve got s feeling it was £150 which is their standard admin charge although I can’t be sure. BA can also link it t your preferred account for you. From most things I have read it will probably be cheaper to upgrade through BA. Give them a call. Have a nice little sob story ready and you have every chance of them waiving the fee. I know I upgraded once from a Pacifica to a Tahoe and managed to get it with no admin fee. The second time when I upgraded to a suburban they wouldn’t budge on the fee. In hindsight I should have left it and rang again a day or two later and tried someone else. It was still cheaper overall than if I’d have booked the suburban from the outset.

Thanks for that. I will give both a call and ask for quotes. Not sure yet if they will come on holiday yet as flights now too dear.

Somebody earlier mentioned it was £150. £25 is not too bad.

BA waived the heavy bag charge in Boston last September, was going to cost us 2 x $100 but the nice man waived it for us.

First time with BA after using Virgin since 1989. Won't go back to Virgin now. Thought they were good, just a fashion show for the hip air hostesess. Terrible service and attitude now. BA so much better.
