Collecting Car from Fort Lauderdale Airport

Hi all, sorry if this has already been covered but I am collecting a Full Size SUV from Fort Lauderdale and wondered if anyone can offer some tips.
I have heard there can be quite a wait for the shuttle bus and have read somewhere before that it is possible to walk from Term 3 to Term 1 rental area?
I am using alamo and am guessing the choice will not be huge either but we ideally need to be off asap as I am driving straight up to Orlando.
Due to land at 3.50pm on a Friday afternoon, so anticipate getting to the car at about 5pm? if lucky. Hopefully in Orlando by about 8pm ish? thanks in advance.

We flew into fll in December, the bus took a good 10 mins from terminal 1.

The busses were one after another but it was the loading of bags that took ages.

If I did it again I would leave the rest of the family kirbside and go by myself no bags on the bus, pick up the car then pick them and the bags up, it’s just the lugging of bags that’s the pain.

As to timings I think your 1 or 2 hours out for arrival in Orlando, we landed at 2:30, we arrived at 10pm in Orlando and let’s just say my driving style is local! we prob lost 2 hours with a missing bag and a computer shutdown at immigration though.

Good airport though and would do it again, the drive to Orlando is very easy.
