Mobile Can't hear this sound - must be old

Saw this on Facebook today and I was very sceptical until I tried it with the family.

Apparently younger people can hear this sound very clearly and those of us on the more mature side not so much.

I didn't warn DH(49) and DS(14) that I was playing a sound. DS (from the other side of the room) was very uncomfortable and asked me to turn off the horrible noise as it was almost hurting his ears. DH was oblivious. I can only just hear it when I hold my phone right up to my ear.

Give it a go. Any mature folks who can hear it clearly?

My 15 year old could hear it loud and clear. I could hear it but not too loudly and my iPad was playing it on my knee. My daughter was at the other side oft the room saying turn it off it's horrible. I'm 52 by the way.

I can’t hear anything🤔. I suspect my dog did and didn’t like it, she had just moved off the bed!

I’m 38 and it hurts my eardrums ,used to hate when they played this to discourage teenagers loitering outside shopping centers , right where the taxi bays were. I can’t stand the plug in pest control things either

20 year old son on other side of room just told me to turn whatever I had on off as it was horrible!

I can only hear it faintly, very high pitch whiny noise. Husband can't hear anything at all. Going to try it on other sons later.

I think I've finally found an alarm sound that will get DS out of bed 😆
