Car Hire v Uber v Lyft

A very simple question but would welcome your opinions!

We are staying at BC next July but have a night booked at HRH so will need to get there and back! On the third day, I have been told I need to take my DW and 3 DD's shopping at The Millennium Mall so will also need to make this trip.

Very simply which would you use and why?

Personally I'd just hire a car.
It's easier than having to wait around potentially - I have never waited long for an uber (haven't used lyft) apart from in bad weather. Prices can also surge with uber/lyft due to demand.

I think by the time you spend money on Ubers/Lyft, you'd be roughly the same (although I think a little more for ubers). It's custom to tip the driver too so think about adding that in for each trip.

Have you found any car hire deals?

You can compare your prices:
mearstransportation
uberestimate
lyft/fare-estimate

Edit to add - as there are 5 of you, you will need an Uber XL/whatever Lyft's equivelant is. Uber standard take 4 people, Xl takes max 6. Then you need to factor in the shopping bags...

Don’t forget to factor in the cost of parking the car at hotel as well. Costs soon add up. Me personally I would use Uber or Lyft which have been fantastic for me in the past.

So you just need to make four trips? Would seem a lot of hassel and cost to hire a car. You would spend more time collecting it than it would take for the Uber journey.
It's less than a 1/2 hr to the Hard Rock and Mall from the BC.

We have both hired cars and used Uber only. As long as you have a good connection for the Uber App I would recommend this as you are only really looking at a few journeys.
Car hire is great but you would be looking at paying parking fees at Universal.

Car Hire is looking like $200
Uber $25 each way so no more than $100
Lyft slightly less

And as for shopping bags - I thought we were just window shopping!

Yeah, best of luck with that one

Our 'window shopping' usually ends in 'window shopping' for a new case to bring the stuff home

As to you original question, we always have a car even though we stay on site.

We do tend to go out shopping quite a bit, transfer to/from Universal and this year we're also doing Busch and KSC.

$100 difference, I'd go with the car, just for convenience. But, be warned, shopping bill might increase as you can leave stuff in the car periodically rather than lugging it around in the outlets (which tends to make you more 'choosy' on your purchases)

Assuming that the OP booked their Disney Accomodation with a UK agent then they won't be paying any car parking charges at BC. They will, of course, have to pay to park at HRH though.

Yes, we have bought a new case on our last two trips!

It's our eldest daughter who wants to do a shopping trip - she still wears clothes bought on the last trip but says she can't find anything she likes in the UK. (she does have her own unique style).
