I do like to get a popcorn bucket as it's cheap refills. Also as it's salty, it makes you thirsty and will encourage the kids to drink more.
I had sweet popcorn when I was there in September.

If a kiosk or counter service restaurant sells soda from a machine they will give you a cup of water if you ask. You can get it along side ordering food eg can I get a pizza and 2 cups of water or just ask for a cup of water. It is the ice cold filtered water from the machine (what they add the syrup too if you are having coke etc) so much nicer than from a fountain. All parks do this. If it is a cart selling just bottled drinks you can't but anywhere with a soda machine will.
Some places give small cups, some big cups with lids same size as a soft drink. Starbucks are generous size.
It is honestly fine to do it, I always just say a cup of water so they know I want free water not a bottle.

It's not the most classy of suggestions, but we bought uncrustables frozen PB+J sandwiches in walmart. They're what you get in a kids meal in the parks. We kept them in our freezer compartment and took in our bags to the parks, we usually had them around 11am when they were fully defrosted and they helped keep the drinks etc cool too.

We also packed zip bags, so anything we didn't finish we could have later, e.g.cookies/pastries/last night's pizza hut

We usually buy sub rolls from target/publix and either have with tuna, cheese of ham. But have been know tonget a doggy bag from Buffalo Wild Wings and have chicken nugget sandwiches. Frozen water in a cool bag is the way forward as well

ref the " iced tap water " they are great, if you need to use a water fountain use ones near restrooms, the water is normally much colder

my advice, buy a " chilly bottle " copy, something like these

ebay/itm/500ml-Wat...100 505.m3226

They keep the water really cold, have a nice wide opening that the ice cubes will fit in, so you get your cup of iced water ( or even 2 ) and pour them into the bottle, the best £10 you will ever spend

Left mine on the dash board of the car and went to blizard beach for a few hours in august , it still had ice in it
