He goes back on Friday 4th September 😳 (I think it was originally supposed to be the Thursday but that day is just for the new year 7’s now) I’ve got the following week off (w/c 7th) we are going to Chester on the 5th and 6th altogther and I’m looking at a weekend away for DH and me the following weekend now

Just to update, myself and DH are going on a short break to Devon for 3 nights in September and I’ve also booked Alton Towers again for 2 nights in November when the fireworks are on for all of us as DS loves it there and really wants to go back.
I’m still planning to do something for all of us in December but not sure what yet and will see how things are everywhere nearer the time!

We often go on city breaks abroad without DS (7) as he wouldn’t enjoy them as much at this age.We work very hard and like some downtime on our own.He has an amazing time at his grand parents whilst we’re not there! We’re going to Las Vegas next year without him.We do go on two holidays abroad with him a year though, so he still gets lots of holiday time with us.With the circumstances this year, I can see why it’s different though, what about going abroad as a family at October half term?

It depends on the circumstances, do you think he will slot back into school ok after the long gap. Is he happy for you to go , he said he is. I wouldn't condemn any one for taking a extra short break away just as a couple.
Ours are grown up so it's hard to think what we would have done years ago. Having said that DH and I have booked a few days in Scotland at a guest house and originally I considered booking a cottage to ask our two grown up sons age 26 and 33, but both wanted to save their annual leave to carry over for a big holiday next year. Stops me feeling slightly guilty it's just me and DH 😁
