Room Charges Disney. Has It Changed?

I just checked my balance and it's showing nearly $500.
In May they dumped the amount onto my credit card before it reached this amount.

Have things changed yet again?

I really couldn't care less but they seem to keep moving the goal posts.

I much preferred it when you get get to nearly $2k before they did a dump. Strange times.

I had periodic holds but nothing charges to my card until we checked out. We didn’t charge that much to the room though as I wasn’t sure how it was going to work.

They let you spend what you want, but keep increasing the hold on your card. Then, they charge what's outstanding on day four (usually without explaining first when you check in), then let it ride until the early hours of checkout day when they charge the remainder.

It's so weird Bev. Been here since Sunday and no hold applied at all. Now that's contrary to what they advertise.

Back in May it was as they advertise namely a $100 hold and regular dumps followed by another hold.

They really should stick to their policy or go back to what it used to be.

As I say I don't care but some like to know exactly where they stand on a daily basis.

However as my check in was delayed by 15 mins they gave me a $50 credit and I never kicked off or asked for anything. Peculiar accounting practices

MrT $50 for 15 mins Seems to be their go to thing at the minute, big change from last year: Move from SSR as it's over booked- nothing, announce 3 months before we go "By the way the pool at AKL is closed for refurb" - again Hee Haw, well technically we did get to use our Resort mugs at TL !
I thought that they automatically charged on Day 5 now ? & I assumed multiples thereafter?

We stayed at 2 resorts for 8 days. I did see a few holds but both times he actual charges hit at check out.

However our bills were both under £500 so that may have been why they didn’t charge earlier.

We have a fee free card and put anything large directly on the credit cards. We mainly used the bands for small purchases when we didn’t have our card on us.

We’ve been here 10 days, have about $600 on our account and have had the initial hold of $100 and further holds of around $120 3 times but no actual charges have gone through and the room account doesn’t show anything having been cleared.

No, they've recently changed that - they don't charge the card until the end of your stay now. The CM when we checked in at POFQ at the end of last month was at pains to make sure we understood it had changed.

As you say, they make the charge in the early hours though, so if you want to settle it some other way then it's important to sort it the night before.

I've never been aware of "holds" on my cards - I know they happen, but how do people see them?

Certain Card companies you can see a hold on the app straight away.

For example I don't trust any car rental company so as soon as I drove off from Alamo last Saturday I checked my account and could see there was $48 on hold. This being for the bring back empty of fuel option.

My halifax app shows them really clearly as a pending charge. How much and which company it’s from.
