Photography courses?
With my renewed interest in photography, I think I’ve found my thing.
So I’m wondering about doing photography courses at college. Has anyone (or anyone’s children) done any? I want to do one in person, I’m currently doing an online one and it’s just a bit complicated I’m finding. I think there’s an option of doing introduction to photography next feb (I’ve emailed to ask about applications) 6 month course. And then do hnd photography next august/September |

I took one at my local college a few years ago. I got a qualification of some sort at the end.
I enjoyed it and we had loads on interesting challenges which got me out snd shooting different things. But I did feel we spent a lot of time on the course preparing the PowerPoint for the assessment and I wasn’t that bothered about the assessment/qualification side of things. |

I'd say get in touch with your local college. See what adult courses they offer.
I found with photography, was a case of getting out and shoot. You'll find unless you want a profession within the industry ie. Medical Photographer for example. You can find most information online on settings etc and as I said, it's a case of just getting out and taking the photos. I never took any courses and was self-taught. I worked in Media & PR for the NHS, did wedding photos for a few years and had published images. I only had issues when I looked to move into a professional photography role as above, Medical Photography.

I am the same I sell my photography (first solo exhibition starting today) I photograph outdoor scenes, landscapes and buildings it’s not rocket science but agree that specialised photography like medical, possibly wedding and portrait and maybe product the best way to learn is t9 get out and shoot. I think more learning is needed for post production stuff.
