Renewing young children's passport

Hi everyone,

We were originally meant to go in May 2020 and now booked for April 2022. We got my daughters passport in late 2019 when she was a little over a year old and she will be nearly 4 when we go next year.

I'm currently debating whether to renew her passport or not, even though it will have plenty time left on it when we go. My concern is that, even although the passport is still valid, she has obviously grown up alot in that time and looks different to her 'baby' photo in the passport.

I'm probably overthinking it, but the last thing I want is to have trouble at immigration after all this time waiting for the holiday!

What's everyone's thoughts/experience on this?

We travelled with young children with baby photos in their passports no problem at all. So I'd just wait till it needs doing

DD travelled on 3 trips with her first passport. She looked very different because of medical reasons, but we always explained when they were checking her photo. I think they probably have ways of telling if a photo is of that particular child. I wouldnt worry about it

Immigration officers are used to dealing with this, they look at thousands of child passports. If it was a concern, they would have a shorter passport validity for babies.

Thanks everyone! I had a feeling I was probably over thinking it, we'll go with it as it is 🙂

Don't worry - my DS was 4 months old on his first passport and still travelled on it til age 5. Never had any problems
