BA LHR route

Has the LHR to MCO route always been there? I don't remember seeing it before and I have booked on this route for next year and just wondered if they are likely to merge it with the LGW route.

No there used to be two lgw-mco a day. They moved one to protect the lhr slots I believe.
Also used to be three Mia a day, now only two.

Thoughts are they are using these to protect Heathrow take off slots, if they don't use them then they loose them. So until they have lots of other places to go (with more business passengers) MCO is likely to stay with a LHR takeoff.

Looking at flights for summer ‘22 it appeared there was MAN - LHR - MCO and also MAN - LGW - MCO. There was also the option of self transfer fro LHR to LGW or vice versa.
Am I to assume they will be flying MAN shuttles to both ?

I’m monitoring prices for when our window opens up and LHR is coming out cheaper to MCO than LGW

I believe so. Their recent announcement on removing shorthaul from LGW stated they would be keeping/introducing feeder routes into the LGW longhaul. So having MAN would make sense for that strategy. Perhaps we'll even see EDI or GLA at some point as well.

Yes my flights to LHR were cheaper and for us, work out better as its a much shorter travel time from South Wales. I hope they don’t decide to merge it with LGW next year.

About time they resumed this it’s much missed!
Fingers crossed they do start from EDI etc.

It'd be really nice for me if they keep the LHR-MCO route - in the past where I'd flown with BA to Orlando I would typically fly into LHR (due to flight routes from where I am only going into LHR) then do a LHR-LGW transfer before flying LGW-MCO. I don't actually mind the LHR-LGW transfer that much but it would be far easier to just fly in/out of the same London area airport without having to transfer airports!

(That being said, I'm still not sure when my next Orlando holiday is going to be...)
