I can vouch for being cold in Toronto, but to be fair it was early Dec. Never felt so cold in my life!

Another lover of Canada here! I am by no means an expert, having only been to Banff and Whistler, but I absolutely love what I've seen and done, and prefer Canada to the USA. There are so many great places to go, and the people are wonderful. I'm sure you will love wherever you choose.

Thank you everyone! Loads of different options to choose from, it’s knowing what we can feasibly get done in 2 weeks although we do like to be busy on holiday I don’t want to spend it all in the car.
The one thing concerning me is the temperature as we’ll be going on the 17th October for 2 weeks. Certainly not expecting hot weather but wouldn’t want it cold and rainy either, anyone know if it’ll be warm enough then to do outdoor activities?

I wouldn’t guarantee the weather in October. Even in August it can be chilly at night! But I still love it there. You just need the right kit 🤣

Don’t let the weather put you off. As long as your are kitted up correctly you will have an amazing time

I have done Vancouver to Banff road trip via Jasper in august which went from 25c down to minus figure scraping use of the care in lake louise overnight

We also did montreal, Quebec and onto the gaspeie peninsular in February 2018 where it got down as low as minus 30. It was cold (thought it really doesn’t feel as cold as it sounds) we were kitted up with thermals and ski jackets and they are set up for the weather and it was an amazing experience

Which ever side you go you will not be disappointed. We are still hopeful for Disney in o toner as will be our last Disney holiday but if it doesn’t happen we will be travelling back to Canada in October this year as well

You can certainly do Niagara/Toronto/Ottawa/Quebec/Montreal is one trip without days in the car.

You could fly into one and out the other. We flew into Montreal and out of Toronto.

Years ago (in the 90s) I went to Ottawa in October. I don't remember it being freezing - similar to here in October I think.

This is all hopeful thank you! I would be prepared for wet weather but as long as it’s not a complete wash out and freezing we can cope. We’re hardy Brits used to rubbish weather after all 😂
Now need to see if Canada opens up their borders to tourists again and then decide what part of Canada to go to! I’m sat on the fence with a Vancouver/Vancouver Island/Whistler holiday or a Toronto/Montreal/Ottawa one.

We're just planning a trip to Toronto for next year.
Fly to Toronto, drive to Vaughan, 1 or 2 days in Canada's Wonderland, drive to Niagara Falls for 2 nights, then back to Toronto for 4 nights. want to go to the islands, zoo, HHOF, CN Tower etc

For a first visit I would stick to the East coast side! Lots to see and do! Though anywhere in Canada is fabulous!

I know this is an old thread but posting to tag it and bump it. We're thinking of possibly going next year. Looking forward to reading the trip reports mentioned.
