Las Vegas - what type of holiday?

Hi. As above, could you please give me your thoughts on Las Vegas? My sister goes for a little gambling and a lot of shopping! She also does a couple of shows. Is there much else to do? We have an 11 year old, is there anything to interest her? Thanks

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, so I can't say anymore.

We stay with family and spend maybe a day each year on the strip.

There is a huge amount to do if you have a car to get around.

A night or two at the Grand Canyon South rim taking in the Hoover Dam on the way.

Days out to Death Valley, Valley of Fire, Red Rock Canyon etc.

Visit some of the TV shows from Discovery channel. At least half a dozen of those.

Day at the water park.

So much to do other than just the strip. But even the strip has plenty to occupy an 11 year old for a few days.

There is a whole section of the forum based on the West coast for you to read up on all the things to do.

Edited at 10:53 AM.

We used to love Las Vegas, but when visiting last September it wasn't the same experience as it was just two years previous. The main reason - the stench of cannabis... everywhere outside! Because DW is a wheelchair user we would have to use the elevators to access the bridges over the road and, without exception all stank to high heaven.
We used to joke that Vegas was like Blackpool on drugs. Well, there you go!

Yes, there are things to occupy kids, but I personally wouldn't take a child.

I wouldn’t be too keen on that! Sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy it as much your previous trips, it’s always disappointing when you find one of your faves is not the same.
