How to find out why easyJet flight cancelled?

We have just learned that a flight we only booked last week to Rome in September, has been cancelled by EasyJet due to “circumstances beyond our control”
Anyone know how to interpret that?
They seem to have cancelled flights in the days before and after as well.
Are they expecting quarantine and no more bookings maybe?

We have options with Jet2 and Ryanair but won’t book yet just in case these don’t go ahead either.

I imagine it’s far to soon to be a potential quarantine issue. I’d say more operational. We have flights for Naples booked for September and I’m nervous it will be cancelled, BA have stopped their flights so no other local options. The flight back has quite a few seats booked but we’re the only seat booked in the outbound flight.

Ours for Jersey at end of August is cancelled

Ours with jet2 got cancelled for october, operational reasons, expect the less busy flights to be cancelled maybe? I have rebooked with easyjet, but worried they might cancel too, am checking daily! Apparently if it says ‘sold out’ it might mean cancelled...
