Deluxe Resort Recommendation
We normally stay in a villa as were travelling as a family, as kids are now grown up our next trip in 2019 may just be DH and I.
So we were thinking on doing a week onsite at Disney with DDP and a week onsite at Universal, probably RPR. We have stayed at AKL before and did like it, but looking for advice on which deluxe resort you would recommend and why? Thanks

We’ve stayed at the Yacht Club and loved it. Being within walking distance of Epcot and HS was great, plus having the Boardwalk opposite was a bonus. There are lots of great restaurants close by and the pool is amazing.

Whilst staying at moderates we always visited various deluxe resorts to see how the other half lived, so to speak, and we thought WL would be awesome, and several trips later our dream came true..This year will be our third stay, and wouldn't change it for the world..Too many reasons, but some are great spot for the magic kingdom, the boat in the morning, the view of MK from our balcony, the new geyser point bar and grill...etc..Oh and the most important thing to us, it's so peaceful and feels like nothing we've ever experienced..

For adults only, I'd go with Y&BC for the location - choose whichever appeals more from a theming POV, I prefer the YC side. Lots of dining/drinking options around the lake between there and Boardwalk, plus Epcot right on your doorstep. Can also easily walk to HS so that's half your park journeys that can be done without setting foot on a bus.

Wish we had taken a look, but didn't think we would be going back. WL sounds great, think this is what we liked about AKL, it was a bit quieter.

Like the idea of being able to walk to both HS and EP, this is going to be difficult!

We love the Boardwalk, just the theme of it is fab. Can walk to Epcot for all the Showcase restaurants for meals.
Beach club has a good pool but its very popular with families so if you want peace and quiet, Beach club might not be a good idea.

Relaxing at the Grand Floridian
|
Just looking at options for 2019 or 2020 ourselves, just DH and I. we have never stayed onsite before as always had the kids and then we both wanted a villa holiday for the private pool and laundry facilities.
Looking at Yacht Club for the convenience and it looks so lovely. Was thinking 5 or 7 nights there with DDP and then 2 nights at Hard Rock Hotel then onto Grand Cypress Villas (will be missing a washing machine by then. I did read it may be cheaper to rent DVC points and add the DDP as paid (the company reckons it still works out cheaper). Anyone know if this is true? I do know that YC wouldn't be an option then but liked the idea of Grand Floridian villas or Old Key West. What are the other benefits of onsite stays, need to convince DH that the extra cost is worth it. 1. Do we get Magic bands 2. Is parking free at Disney Parks if we decide to drive there Sorry so many questions H xx |

Yes you get Magic Bands, parking is free and Cups also if you buy the dining plan.
The best thing about being on site is that you are always 'home', no worries about getting to your villa etc. as the WDW buses run all the time, so you can get back to your resort so easily and are easier than a hire car especially for MK days.
