How long has it been law ...

That you can’t pay cash into another person’s bank account without them being present?

I have just tried to pay my grandson’s pocket money into his Nationwide account and this is what I was told. So angry as I had gone out especially, through all the traffic and four sets of traffic lights being on red.

I am going to have to try and do it online but that leaves me with £100 in cash that I don’t want in cash.

I had a letter from hsbc yesterday to tell me exactly the same thing. I'm sure it will be something to do with the new GDPR rulings.

I pay cash into my boys bank accounts and they are hardly ever with me. Is it Nationwides policy?

Cross post - looks like I won't be paying cash in without them anymore!

Barclays are the same too, no longer allowed to pay in cash to another account.

I think I read that some banks were enforcing this. I've just moved all dd's money from Halifax to Nationwide and had forgotten about it. I'm presuming I'll be able to pay in as the account is managed by me for my dd.

I’ve had this with Nationwide too - tried to pay in cash for my son but they wouldn’t take it. Luckily I had my cheque book so wrote a cheque for the corresponding amount but then I had to make a trip to my bank to pay in the cash. I do wonder if my hubby had been there, would they have just assumed he was DS?
