Mustang at Sanford Airport
As it is just the two of us this time (although there is a slight chance that DD will tag along) we are hoping to hire a mustang.
We are flying to/from Sanford airport which is a first for us and therefore not sure of the ins and outs of car hire at this airport. I've found a price with BA, car hire with Avis, for £505, two weeks, for a Mustang (or similar) which seems ok? Any thoughts on the price and any info on car hire from Sanford - do Avis have a swap lane like at MCO? We are Avis preferred members, does this give any benefit at Sanford - I'm not sure from what I have read. Thanks

Just wondering if anyone has any advice about car hire from Sanford, or who to hire a mustang from?

Hi we hired a mustang last October through BA/Avis at Sanford. On the day we were allocated one but if you do not like it you can go back to the desk and ask to change if there’s another one available. There was three more on the day either yellow or black
Also be aware that you may not get a mustang there are other cars in the same “group” There is very little space in the boot we managed to get one case in and two rucksacks the other cases had to go on the back seat and we had to lower the roof to get them in Also if you hire one keep an eye on the small back window when you put the roof back up. Luckily i’d Read on here about problems. When you put the roof up the little window often didn’t go right back up leaving about an inch gap and you had to push it fully by hand. Not a major problem until you hit one of the major thunderstorms if you don’t realise and for security as well |

We went to look at a Mustang at a local Ford garage to see what the boot size was like. Thought it looked reasonable and between the back seat and the boot we would get our luggage in - will only have two albeit large suitcases (soft body). This wasn't the convertible so not sure what impact the roof folding has.
Didn't know about the back window issue so if we get one then will look out for this. Where the cars at Sanford fairly new and well spec'ed? Thanks

New model Mustangs 2018/19 don’t have the window problem.
The cars at Alamo for example will generally be no more than a year old at most. The stock will change daily, and can rotate from various locations in Florida and out of state such as Louisiana foe example. Spec? Most will be the 2.3 Ecoboost model, but you may be lucky and get a V8 but they don’t tend to stay in the stock lines for long. |

We have rented from Alamo a Mustang several times, not had any problems with the rear windows going up full.
We have been two adults 2 cases and 2 hand luggage in the boot no problems, coming home we even packed more in there. We find the visibility with the roof up is poor checking over your shoulder and the rear view mirror but adapted to it. Also beware of the sun on your head and your legs if wearing shorts, you do not notice that you are burning while driving.
