Yes and there are specific reasons for each. Just because they weren’t created for SARS and MERS doesn’t mean they won’t be for Covid.

Sorry, but this makes no sense.

Masks are about safety and health of CMs and guests.

Enforcement is easy, my way or the highway. Wear the mask, or wave bye bye to Mickey and co.

Disney would likely be liable and open to being sued if it could be proven that they were putting guests or CMs heath at risk by not enforcing basic social distancing/other preventive measures (such as filmed proof).

Why would there have to be renegotiations? "Sorry, employees, we can't enforce the masks so if you want to keep your jobs, you have to relent and ease up on the restrictions"? Lawsuits galore.

Easy to enforce. Wear the masks or be escorted from the property. Believe me, they will be replaced with guests who will keep their masks firmly in place all day.

I also think that, as with everything else, mask restrictions will start to lift. Probably with an inside - masks mandatory, outside - masks optional.

I also think that what the union leaders say isn't always representative of what they employees on the shop floor think.

People saying it is easy and a "my way or the high way" sort of thing I don't think have thought it through. How many times will videos/pictures/news reports of families being thrown out because a 2 year old took their mask off have to happen before it started damaging the companies?

I also think that this is just what I personally think and as such I don't think anyone can say that they think I am wrong.

Hopefully the situation will get better soon. Masks in central Florida in the heat will be absolutely disgusting, uncomfortable and gross.
Beyond masks, what I personally am hoping for is that people stop getting sick and dying.

We can disagree about whether this may or may not come to pass but I don’t think my point of view makes no sense.

I enjoy the healthy debate about this and ultimately only time will tell what happens with masks. Different countries are taking different approaches with masks based on the evidence available to them. In the UK, for example, we’re being told masks inside - yes, masks outside- probably not necessary. So the guidance could change, Disney could update their protocols, the union could reconsider their position etc etc etc. I think all businesses will be keen to find an approach which is supported by the science, keeps people as safe as possible and keeps guests and employees as happy as possible. Whilst I see that masks being mandatory for now makes sense to tick all of those boxes, this can, and will, change.

And I do think it’s easier said than done to enforce 50,000 people wearing masks at all times. There is a significant possibility that once this is all up and running they realise that masks plus 34 degree heat = all manner of problems. Who knows! Like I said, I’m happy to wear my mask, if I get the opportunity to do so.

In the meantime, let’s agree to disagree and I won’t insult you by saying you make no sense (even if I do preface it with “sorry”)

Excellent post. I go on a couple of American FB pages and the cast members on there said they thought masks should be recommended for guests, not mandatory. They also said they weren't asked to vote on it, it's all down to the union. And I agree, there will be a lot of bad publicity once the parks open and people get thrown out over it. A lot of people aren't happy with them as it is with all the restrictions and this will just make things worse for them.
