Phone advice please

DD has smashed her phone screen, we have insurance which would cover it for replacement, but we would need to send it to them, but it wont switch on so we cannot return to factory settings. How safe is this to send it to them without doing this. Its iphone6s plus

I guess providing there is no confidentiality information on it then it shouldn't be a problem, but the reality is that you don't have a choice being as you can't turn it on

Is it cost effective to get it repaired considering the excess? I broke my iPhone 6s recently but my insurance excess was £100 and they just about fetch that on eBay on a good day, so I didn't bother with the claim.

As above I’d check if it’s worth repairing once you’ve paid the excess .

As long as there’s not things like passwords to financial information stored in the phone i can’t see the issue

Depending on where you live you can take it to a apple shop and they might be able to do it all so if you got a phone shop that fixes phones just a idea but as others have said it might be cheaper just getting a new phone.

I have an I phone 6 screen broke and central button would not work - but I managed to find a work around for this on line
We have insurance but I took it to a local shop who did the repair including a new button for £50
I’m using it now to write this so I’ve had another year out of it - shortly to upgrade to DS I phone 8 when he gets his I phone 12 for Xmas .
Worth a try
The other thing to think about us that they may not be able to do the repair and usually upgrade the phone if this is the case

if it works, but the screen is dead, you could potentially plug it into a usb port on your computer and do a factory reset of it in itunes before sending it off...
