We are here for the Lights November 2024 Day 4 - Celebration and Disney Springs
Today was also a non-park day. We both woke up at 5:45 and Paul went down to get coffees from roaring Forks at six. Not sure of the opening hours as posted as the quick service opening at 7 o'clock. The drinks are in a separate room along with seating, so not sure if that is open 24 hours. Both potted about, and Paul went down to the quiet pool whilst I got ready. I recently bought DVC resale but this was a cash booking as we had booked before I bought the resale. Plus there were no points available for us to use for this trip. When I did my i wandering n the early hours yesterday, I noticed a laundry room, one floor below us, but it was for DVC only. My magic band wouldn't open the door so I went down to ask in reception. technically as it was a cash booking, I wasn't allowed access to this laundry room, but as we were DVC, we were given a card to use. What I didn't realise was that it was just for one use, and during the trip I had to keep getting it activated.
We drove to Celebration and parked easily on a side street and headed towards Downtown Diner. There was no wait and we opted to sit outside as the weather was really pleasant. Luckily, there was no smell of fish as I had previously seen in a vlog that a lot of the fish in the lake had died recently. There were however, a lot of birds hanging about the tables. We both ordered hot tea to drink but there was no sweetener nor sugar on the table and because o of my bypass I can’t eat and drink at the same time (can’t drink for half an hour after eating either) so I wanted to to make sure I drank my tea before the food came. It took ages to attract someone’s attention and in the end my food came when I was only halfway through my tea. I had the corned beef hash and Paul had the Celebration Platter. He didn’t notice it came with French toast until the food arrived but they happily swapped it for multi-grain toast. Food was lovely but I definitely couldn’t eat all of mine - Paul helped me out though. Total was £38.97. It was our second visit there and we would happily go there again although may try the Tavern next time just to try somewhere different. How much I ate! We had a wander round the town and a mooch in a couple of the gift shops where I bought a couple of Christmas decorations and some every day ornaments, I also called at the bakery and bought some macarons. Our next stop was Walmart on the 192 where we spend £93.38 on beer, wine, 6 bags of Cheetos (Paul has an addiction to these!) and various other bits and pieces of stuff we didn’t need. I also bought some sweets and chocolates to take back to work rather than pay Disney prices. There was a large family in there all stood talking by the bakery and the kids were having a football match right in the middle with the ball hitting all kinds of stuff but the parents weren’t saying anything to them! Back to the resort for a couple of hours by the pool then we had to take the car back by 4pm. When walking to the car I realised my trainers were rubbing even with socks so Paul drove to the front of the building and I nipped back to the room to change my shoes. As the uber driver had gone to the wrong hotel when we picked the car up we were determined to find the correct one straight away but we were worse - driving round and round the wrong hotel then going to the correct one and dismissing it again! We just made it to the Avis desk at 4 but were in a big queue. It was the same lady who rented the car out to us so she caught my eye and just took the keys off us. We then walked over the bridge to Disney Springs. We went to World of Disney to pick up the $200 gift card for booking early and decided to get a drink from the Hole in the Wall at Raglan Road which turned into to a couple. Guinness is so expensive there but Paul is not much of a drinker and lots of places there don’t do Guinness so I don’t begrudge him a pint or two when he can get it. 2 medium pints of Guinness and 2 Smithwicks came to £60.56! We liked the look of the take away fish and chips from Cookes of Dublin but we had a table booked at House of Blues later. We had 90 minutes before our booking and didn’t want any more drinks where we were so went back to World of Disney and bought a few bits and pieces including a calendar, mug for Paul and we both had a zipped hoody. We also got a new dog tag for Poppy. I like Sugarboo but there was nothing in there I fancied but I did buy 3 candles in Bowes. One each for Wilderness Lodge, Polynesian and Grand Floridan. The guy serving really liked my accent for some reason and said I sounded like the queen - quite posh! I come from Worcester so can hardly be classed as posh but accepted the compliment! Total in there was £57.09. We got to House of Blues where it was quite busy and we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table inside. I had a cocktail, Paula bud and we both had burgers to eat which were very nice. Cost was £51.39 which I thought was good value for the size and quality of food. I took the rest of my cocktail to go as the food came too soon and we sat and listened to a singer playing by the AMC cinema. A really chilled evening and we only had to wait a couple of minutes for a bus to take us back to the resort. Back to the parks tomorrow with a day at Animal Kingdom after breakfast at Whispering Canyon.

Celebration is such a great spot to wander and shop. Breakfast looked tasty but the portions are huge! I love a mooch around DS and I love that your sound just like the Queen! Very posh! HOB is such a great spot, the live music is great and those burgers look tasty. I’m sure you are all ready for another park day tomorrow. 😁

Paul’s shorts were already starting to get tight at this point due to the leftovers from me he was eating! At home I can just dish up what I know I can eat. Occasionally I will have a child’s meal but the choices aren’t as good.

House of Blues, one of our favorite places especially on a warm evening sipping a beer and listening to some live music.

I am just catching up with your trip report and really enjoying it! Thanks for making the effort to write it up and share it with us all
We have one night at Copper Creek in January. We've never even set foot in Wilderness Lodge so I'm excited to see it and try out some of the dining options! |

Huge breakfast portions! I never finish my meals there and often choose a child’s meal! Neither Celebration nor Disney Springs look too busy in your photos.
A lovely chilled out evening. |
