clearwater

Having just watched the dolphin film with my DD, oops cant remember its name but it had Winter in it , am toying with the idea of visiting Clearwater aquarium. Can anyone tell me how far from Disney it is and how much in a taxi, or the best way of getting there without a car.

Various companies run day trips to Clearwater, don't think you'd want to take a taxi. Try gatortours, viator, allorlandotours etc.

Excited about Disney

Hi, IMO the aquarium in the film is far nicer than in real life, we stayed in Clearwater for a week in april and visited Winter for the morning ( make sure you get vouchers for money off before you book - plenty out there ) the 3 kids (13,9,7 ) enjoyed aquarium but for a visit from Disney just for this I feel would be money not well spent. If you stayed in Clearwater and visited the surrounding areas which are stunning especially the sunsets then it would make more financial sense. I hope this does not sound too negative but 90 min drive, 3 hours in aquarium 90 min drive back seems a lot of money for something the film and aquarium have 'marketed' very well. I am sure others may disagree but I am glad we got money off vouchers and did not make a special trip. spend the money taking the little one for a swim with dolphins instead ?

The Clearwater aquarium is more a rescue centre and I would agree it's far more glamorous in the film whereas the reality is its a little run down but it's worth a visit if your in the area.

As mentioned you can do a tour which will bring you to clearwater for the day and you could visit the aquarium as part of that, don't expect to be there for long, think I was there for an hour max!

Another option could be to get one of the day trips from the above operators that either includes a boat trip so you could see some dolphins out to sea, or which just take you to Clearwater and then make your own arrangements.

Last year we drove over, and used Little Toot - we had several dolphins playing around the boat for a good 20-25 minutes.
