Help! DDP v Club level dilemma!
What to do? We had planned to add the DDP to our booking once released. After inquiries with VH it may work out cheaper to upgrade to club level and re- book tickets with an independent agent.
To add on the dining plan, we effectively have to cancel the park tickets and add them back on with the dining plan which we were told could add anywhere between 5-8k on! ( not even club level!) We have 3 kids who are really fussy eaters and would have to pay adult price for our 11 year old who barely eats anything. Am currently thinking it would make more sense to go club level so kids have plenty of snack options throughout the day ( that's all they eat!) then pay OOP for a few table service meals in the evening. We aren't really a 3 meals a day family whilst in hol, more snacks and 1 big meal. Also, looks like you can get some good deals on park tickets if getting them independently. Thoughts please!

We had this dilemma last time and chose club level at AKL over DDP. For us it was brilliant, great breakfast and lots of yummy snacks during the day and the evening service was fab - small portions but you could have as many as you wanted. Our children loved hanging out in the club lounge and it saved us a small fortune over the holiday!

Are you planning on paying for the dining plan or booking the free dining plan? If it's the free one, then it certainly won't add that much on to the cost of your holiday

We will have to pay for the DDP as already booked with VH to take advantage of the sale price on flights.
As it stands - we've currently got a yacht club club level room booked 'on request' so waiting to see if Disney will confirm the booking. If not available we will have to go with the dining plan though I doubt that this will work out better value for money.

We've done club level with DDP once before and for us it was too much food. Since then we've just done club level and it works well for us.

We actually found it really small and a bit chaotic when we went. We rarely were able to get a table so ended up taking our nibbles back to the room to eat. We only ate in the lounge a handful of times because of this. My husband was chatting to one of the lounge cast members one day about our holiday and briefly mentioned about how busy it was/ how small the lounge was. Next thing a manager was phoning our room to discuss this and apologise. He placed a large credit on the room bill (which we didn't ask for at all).
Sorry for the negative post but personally we wouldn't go club level at the yacht club again. We'd maybe try the Beach club. It could have just been our bad luck that it was so busy at the time we went.

the thing with club level is even though its great while at a resort, how much time do you really spend at the resort ? ? yes fine for breakfast before you head to the parks, yes fine for supper when you return, but what about inbetween, you will not be returning at lunch for a bite to eat, it just a waste of park time
or have i missed something ? ? |

No we certainly wouldn't plan our day round returning to eat snacks at lunchtime, but i doubt with 3 kids who don't each much we'd get value out of the dining plan. For us it means breakfast would be covered, we'd snack during the day appt the parks then have a proper meal in the evening. I wouldn't think of club level as a meal replacement strategy
