Heading East...where to start?
So...we are thinking for July 2018 heading Far East, thinking maybe 2/3 days seeing sights then 10/12 days beautiful beach but with "stuff" to do for 15 yr old DS...water sports/snorkelling ect.
I honestly do not know where to start Thinking Thailand/Malaysia Help Dibbers, give me a nudge in the right direction We dont need a lot to keep us entertained Thanks in advance

I went to Kusla Lumpur last year and was pleasantly surprised! From there there are beach resorts to the north but I haven't been.
I did a trip report on KL as did C&L who went a few week before I did!

First of all check the weaather. I considered Thailand for this year and the weather in July is unpredictable as it is rainy season particularly in Chang Mai is particularly wet as is the Anna an coast. Koh Samui is usually good but Phuket has rain. Obviously this isn't guaranteed and my son was on a school holiday there in July and had decent weather. I decided I'd avoid it to be safe and went to Singapore & Bali instead

Weather is key... we usually travel to Florida in July so used to rain, but do need the odds to give me more sun than rain. Will have a look at the weather apps
Thanks Mel, I read your report and fancied KL after reading

have a nosy on the Kuoni website - build any kind of trip you fancy with them. Might also give some pointers on interesting things to do for your DS too.
I absolutely love Thailand. Would do Bangkok for a few days then up to Chaing Mai or similar area to see hill tribes / jungle / elephants etc, then down to beach for the remainder. You may need to decide which beach resort dependant on weather flows but if doing Phuket could poss fly back direct and then skip the dog leg back to Bangkok. |

We had a stop over in langkawi, Malaysia, for a few days once. This was end July/August. It rained for most of the time we were there. It was beautiful but wet.

We went to Khao Lak in Thailand last July, we flew via Dubai to Phuket. We did know it was the wet season so went expecting some rain but were happy it wasn't for too long when it did come. The kids usually kept playing in the pool or we went to the bar.
