Mobile Silly Question - is our car petrol or diesel?!

How do we tell? We have a Hyundai Tucson and it doesn't say on the inside of the fuel cap or on any of the paperwork. There isn't anything in the glove box either. We don't need to fill up just yet but we will have to at some point!

Is there an easy way to tell which it takes?

Thanks 😳😊🙄

There are a couple of things you may try.
Listen to the sound of the engine when you first start it up. Diesel is a lot noiser
Also when you unscrew the cap there should be either a green insert or black insert down deep in the fill point

Its neither... Its gas

Never seen of or heard of a diesel rental in Florida.

Just pick the cheapest which I think is 87 grade... and to add to the confusion you'll probably find its a black handle

And the final tip for the night is to pay cash inside... never use your card at a gas station.

At a uk filling station the diesel nozzle shouldn't be able to go into the fill point if it's petrol
If your still unsure stop at a Hyundai dealer and ask.
Thanks but we haven't bought the car, we are in Florida and it's a hire car!

Why are you saying not to pay with a card?

A diesel will have a glow plug light
like they do at home on the dash, if yours is a diesel i will be astonished!

I've heard of people getting their cards cloned at gas stations
