Food in Riva was very reasonably priced! And the ice creams - delicious!

My friend has just been to Slovakia with her dh and two teenage sons, they did a trip to Vienna from there and also went to Budapest, really reasonable eating and drinking prices.

We are heading to Poland next month. This was really cheap and we are staying right in the centre of Krakow.
A Polish colleague at work told me the cost of living is ridiculously cheap and you will only pay around £14 for a good quality 3 course meal.
Its somewhere we have never been before and thought we would give it a try.

We took our son to Sorrento for his 21st birthday present. A Week in a four star hotel bed, breakfast and evening meal (4course) was just under £600 each but this was May. We toured the Amalfi coast, visited Heculaneum and took a boat trip to Capri, it's a beautiful place. Plan on returning in a couple of years to see the things we missed.

Last year we spent a week in the Netherlands in a Landal resort. Really great accomodation and very friendly. We hired bikes and with the flat roads and bike lanes we really enjoyed it.

We stayed near the coast in the Zeeland area.

We drove down through France and Belgium.

We are off to lido di Jesolo on the Venetian Riviera in a couple of weeks time, got a really good half board deal.

After doing Florida this year, we decided that we couldn't possibly sit on a beach for a week as we would be bored stiff. Our hotel is 100m to the beach but only 45 minutes and you are in Venice, trips to lake Garda and Verona don't look too far either., so we get a city and beach break all in one!

Always take the side streets when visiting an Italian city, far cheaper to eat in a small non tourist Trattoria. I remember having the tiniest latte in a coffee shop outside the Vatican and was charged nearly 6 euro for the privilege, most other places were 1.50.

We've just come back from Italy and we've fallen in love with it, it is absolutely stunning. We stayed in venice and desenzano del garda in lake garda. They were both amazing. Venice is unique and we loved it, our teen did too. Lake garda is stunning, like being on a real life movie set, the scenery and streets are picture perfect. They both surpassed our expectations and we didn't find it expensive at all, less than we expected to be honest. I guess once you've been to new York, everywhere after that seems cheap. Scoop of ice-cream from €1.50 and you can buy soft drinks and alcohol from little shops or ice-cream kiosks for half the price of the bars. We had evening meals ranging from €45 (on the grand canal in venice) to €120 in sirmione lake garda. There's something to suit every budget and we definitely would like to return one day.
Cheap flights with Ryanair to Venice treviso airport, bus transfers to Venice €12 each and train to desenzano was only €19.90 first class. It needn't cost a fortune.
We have travelled to quite alot of different places and Italy is definitely the most beautiful.

We have also just returned from the same area.

Stayed in Venice then hired a car and took in the Dolomites (stunning) Lake Garda ( as mentioned above beautiful) and Bologna before finishing in Verona and home.

All very different places but would recommend them all in their own way for something different. You could easily see one or two places in a week and from Lake Garda, particularly the southern end, trips to Venice and Verona where frequent.

Food and drink reasonable depending on where you ate but all really good and maybe I ate a bit too much gelato but it was amazing.

I love Italy and would happily recommend each spot we visited this trip.
