The first times we went to WDW the re-fillable mugs were sold on a "free refils forever, for that resort" basis! We did take them back for a few years, but have bought new ones over the last five + years - once the designs changed.

Now we get a new one each year and still bring them home - usually given to nephews and neices filled with candy from MNSSHP (not that we give cheap prezzies ).

Fairly easily, when you buy your mug, you show your KTTK and the days are programmed into the chip on the mug using a coding machine at the check-out or something similar.

It is widely believed that the manufacturer of the dispenser is paying for them, its actually the same company that makes the mugs for Disney.

Good thing that they're introducing this. At least they realised there was a problem with the system! Surely with split stays you could just let people know at check in and they would arrange something or it would just be a chip for the duration of your stay, not length of each individual, hotel visit. There will be a way around it as loads of people split their stays.

As I understand it, there is an agreement with Coca Cola that the coke is supplied free to Disney because of the promotion it gets at all the outlets.

I like the idea of one you can use in the parks.

totally agree. i got really annoyed when we went last time as you could tell people had really old mugs that they were reusing. it is not as if they are really expensive and you certainly get your moneys worth

We witnessed this happening a lot on our recent stay at OKW! And it was always Parents sending the kids up to get the refills for them! We also saw one Guy filling up one of those huge drinks containers they sell at the Rainforest Cafe Store!

I buy new mugs everytime we go. Have a cupboard full of them. People will just buy one mug and fill up then empty it into whatever container they want and then fill up again and keep doing that.
