Took our grandchildren last year ages 6 and 3 they absolutely loved especially the play area and the water fountain they did show interest in the rest of the place though , Oliver wanted to go back the next day they could have a run around which they loved no hustle and bustle like in the parks , they can't wait to go back next year

Good thread. Have a six and seven year old and would love to take them to ksc for first time.
What tickets should we get. I haven't been there for a few years and it did involve a lot of bus trips... Thanks |

I'd also like to know if there are enough things to see without having to do a bus tour. My daughter is doing Space and the moon landings in school and is really into it. However, she falls asleep within minutes if getting on buses, in cars, trains (hopefully long haul flights too!). I know she'll get grotty if we have to keep waking her up!

We took ours when they were 5 and 8 and were really only going as we hadn't done it in our previous trips. However, had a great day and the kids loved, especially DD age 5.

Like most things it depends on the kids, the last time we went mine were 6 & 10, both asked to go but were getting bored by the end, as was i as personally i have no interest in space.
There was a little girl there of 4-5 that seemed to always be on the same bus as us and it was clear she was bored rigid, playing up, crying just generally not enjoying it. But i've seen other kids there who appear to be having a fab time. |

We've also decided to go next year and my DS will be 9. We are hoping he will enjoy it, however he has done a Space topic at school and seemed interested, so fingers crossed he doesn't get bored quick.

Just a note on the 'Bus tours'. Standard entry includes a trip to a gantry which looks over the old shuttle launch pads. The bus then leaves you at the Saturn V building. This is an integral part of the experience of visiting the centre.
There are other specialised tours at additional cost: Up close to shuttle pad Up close to VAB (inside the building) Mega tour - both the above There is also a tour or the launch control centre (I haven't some this one so don't know the detail) |
